Despondent

The title has been decided.

As I'm writing this, Liverpool are losing 1-0 to Manchester City with about 15 minutes to play. I don't care even if they pull a miraculous win out of the bag AGAIN this time. With an insipid attack and clueless defence, coupled with weak substitutes, and a goalkeeper who flaps whenever he is tested, even if they DO win tonight, they'll never be able to overhaul Manchester United like this.

Your team is losing 1-0, and you pull off your most effective left midfielder, subbing on a reserve team player. What the hell? This may not be happening right now if you didn't buy a star striker for 20 million and sold him after JUST 6 months, losing 8 million in the process.

I tell you money was involved, probably for the linesman, and for the referee. Vincent Kompany was OFFSIDE in the build up to Bellamy's goal, but the bloody linesman must have been too blind seeing $$$. And what kind of freaking luck is that, when the original shot is off-target, then the deflection takes place of ALL the freaking places it has to deflect out of reach of Reina. Seriously. When things like that happen, you have to seriously consider if the gods are on your side or not.

The referee too, not giving Kompany a bloody 2nd yellow card when he obviously deserves it, turning round to card El Zhar instead, it's effing BRIBERY I tell you.

This match shows you EXACTLY what's ugly in the world today; I was wrong, money CAN buy everything, even wins in the EPL. Looks like selling your soul is the only means by which you can win matches.

There's no justice in this world.

It's time to stop prolonging and drawing out the "title race", as much of a "title race" it is. You might as well be pitting a rabbit against a freaking snail for God's sake. Go fade off like you always do, Liverpool, stop giving us false dawns and go crawl in your hole to die like you always do every season.

Title PRETENDERS can't be a more apt description.

"You'll Never Walk Alone"... cos you'll never be champions. The rest of the Premier League will accompany you on that account.

Wait A Minute...

I think I just discovered something wrong in House M.D....

It's during Season 4 Episode 8, "You Don't Want To Know", at the tail-end of the show, House is on his usual end-episodic "eureka" moment and explaining his final, correct diagnosis to his team. This is a transcript of what came up:

13: But we tested his blood!

House: That's because we don't test blood for type, we test for antibodies.

Foreman: Because your body only makes those antibodies when you have actually that type of blood.

Clarification here, if it's not clear enough, the patient has type A blood, they tested him and got type AB blood, cos he's got lupus (apparently) and his body is producing an extra antibody, B.

Now, given that context, can someone tell me if I got it wrong, or is the concept of the diagnosis totally off?

Your body only makes antibodies to the type of blood that you don't possess i.e. If you are blood type A, you make B antibodies and vice versa. Type AB people will have no antibodies while type O will have both! That makes AB the universal taker cos they have no antibodies against any type of blood, and O the universal donor cos their blood cells have no antigens for the antibodies to bind to and eliminate.

What House and Foreman are claiming here is that, for example, if you possess A antibodies, you have blood type A. Which SHOULDN'T be the case cos if you possess A antibodies you will have blood type B! Or if you have B antibodies along with it, have blood type O. So technically the patient, whose tests showed both antibodies A and B, should have been assumed to be blood type O, not blood type AB as they did in the episode!

I'm quite sure I'm right, and that House is wrong... Either that or I totally screwed my first year Physiology, or I totally misunderstood that episode of House.

Oh House, I'm so disappointed in you...

Are You Gonna Go My Way

"Are You Gonna Go My Way" by Lenny Kravitz

I was born long ago
I am the chosen I'm the one
I have come to save the day
And I won't leave until I'm done
So that's why you've got to try
You got to breathe and have some fun
Though I'm not paid I play this game
And I won't stop until I'm done

But what I really want to know is
Are you gonna go my way ?
And I got to got to know

I don't know why we always cry
This we must leave and get undone
We must engage and rearrange
And turn this planet back to one
So tell me why we got to die
And kill each other one by one
We've got to love and rub-a-dub
We've got to dance and be in love

But what I really want to know is
Are you gonna go my way?
And I got to got to know

Are you gonna go my way ?
'Cause baby I got to know, yeah

Depressing

Something's changed... From the invitation to watch a concert, to the blogstalking, to the facebook messages, to the "mix-tape" CD, to the chatting online, to the smses, to the talking during practice to...

Nothing.

"Something's missing, and I don't know how to fix it", from Something's Missing by John Mayer, is very appropriate here.

This leads to 2 conclusions... Either 1. SOMETHING'S changed, and I don't know what it is, or 2. NOTHING changed, and cos of that... Everything vanished.

I don't know. I would be confrontational about this, but I'm too gutless for that cos...

Coldplay is coming to Singapore on 23rd March!

The only person I thought would go with me is already going with other people... The saddest part is she didn't even ask me, or tell me about the concert... I thought she would have. All other attempts to ask people have been futile so far, cos I can't think of anyone, or cos they don't want to go. This leads me to 3 conclusions...

1. See above.
2. I have no friends.
3. All my friends aren't interested in Coldplay.

Jon Teo offered 4, which is that people don't wanna spend so much on concert tickets, and Perry offered 5, which is that the Medicine students don't wanna get retained cos the concert is 1 week before promotional exams, but I think 2. and 3. are the more plausible reasons.

Anyone wants to go for the Coldplay concert? SMS me or leave me a tag here by Sunday night, 15th February. Haha.

This is damn depressing.

Oh yeah, happy Valentine's Day, by the way.

Favouritism

I think the guy who wrote for the article for the Liverpool - Portsmouth match in today's Straits Times sports section either didn't watch the match at all, or knew nits about football.

Sure, Benitez fielded an under-strength lineup, sure, he may be losing his mind, but DON'T discredit the players out there. Portsmouth hardly had possession of the ball in the first half and in the 2nd up till their first goal. Liverpool, despite their under-strength lineup and weird formation, were CONTROLLING the match, and had the final ball been there, or if they had a little bit of luck, they'd have scored at least 1 in the first half (Babel missing the open goal was inexcusable, but the very fact that we managed to conjure several chances highlights the control we had over the match).

I'm now beginning to understand what Paul Tomkins means when he says that other title-chasing teams are shown so much more favouritism. Liverpool, on the other hand, are perpetually over-criticized. You only fear those that pose a threat, and so demean them as a form of defence.

WTF Moment of the day: I actually managed to get both diagnoses right today in the neurodegenerative lecture :) Didn't really get paraneoplastic syndrome until the lecturer went AUTOIMMUNE! but the idea of cancer and metastasis was there, and CJD was obvious, but Chin Yee did very well to point out vCJD.

Disgraceful

This morning, from 12-2am, I was not proud to be a Liverpool fan.

I think no matter how well or badly you play in any match at all, you should play with integrity.

It is utterly disgraceful when you see players throw themselves onto the ground, trying to get free kicks and penalties, or players exaggerating injuries just so their opponents will get yellow-carded or sent off.

Repeated dives from Gerrard, trying to win free-kicks in dangerous positions or penalties against Chelsea, were just disgraceful. If you are a player with that kind of calibre, you don't have to resort to underhanded means to win. Mascherano was another one, who flung his body to the ground at the slightest provocation, trying to get his opponents yellow-carded. It's terrible to watch. Why ruin the beautiful game with dirty tactics?

Mind you, Chelsea were not fully innocent either, Mikel dived to get Mascherano yellow-carded, while Jose Bosingwa put his studs full into Benayoun's back at the corner flag towards the end of the game.

The referee didn't help matters either, giving a red card for a seemingly innocuous challenge by Lampard on Alonso, and NOT giving a red card to Bosingwa for blatantly kicking an opponent, furthermore, giving a free-kick instead to Chelsea.

I think the only thing the referee got right this morning was the yellow card for Gerrard's dive.

The FIRST time I saw Lampard's challenge, I thought instantly, yellow-card. When the referee flashed the red, I was shocked. After seeing the replays, the commentators thought that Alonso was more at fault than Lampard. I beg to differ. Alonso was going all out for the ball, while Lampard was sticking his leg up in the air in a desperate attempt to win the ball before Alonso could get it. Despite him touching the ball, it was a high challenge, and it was his touch that prodded the ball away from Alonso, who had already swung his leg to try to get the ball.

In short, both players were going for the ball, but Lampard's was a high challenge, with studs out. Should have been a yellow card, not a red.

Now, because of the win, Liverpool are the confirmed hate-boys of the Premiership. First with Benitez's tirade at Ferguson and Gill, then his refusal to sign a new contract unless more power is given to him, his row with Rick Parry, followed by his refusal to play Robbie Keane on the pitch, coupled with Liverpool's failure to win in the previous 3 games before the Chelsea one, giving them the label as "title-pretenders" again, the board trying to sell Liverpool, and finally the ugly Chelsea match.

After a great start to the season, Liverpool have self-destructed once again. The only difference was that this time it was a little later than usual. I disagree with the pundits and writers saying "If you were to give Liverpool fans this option at the start of the season they would've taken it", that's equivalent to saying that you're happy with what you've got, despite you knowing that it could have been so much better. Always strive for excellence.

Unless the next game shows me otherwise, I will not be proud to be a Liverpool fan. It is better to lose honestly than to cheat to win.

Our Truth

Nice song :)

"Our Truth" by Lacuna Coil

Clock is ticking while I'm killing time
Spinning all around
Nothing else that you can do
To turn it back

Wicked partnership
In this crime
Ripping off the best
Condescending smile

Trying to forget
(Wasting my time)
We're falling right through
Lying to forget
(Telling more lies)
We're raising our truth

Go on and tease me

Clock is ticking while I'm stealing time
Can't you turn it back?
Stop the cycle
Let it free
Run away

Silent sneaking
Along my path
Rugged the road
But we feel it
Like we're flying

Trying to forget
(Wasting my time)
We're falling right through
Lying to forget
(Telling more lies)
We're raising our truth
