It's been a long long long time coming... But I've got to say thanks to a few very important people in my life...
I stopped blogging for a period of time earlier this month (or coming online, as if anyone noticed or cared), because my computer crashed... It was a hard disk failure most probably due to overheating. I was devastated because if I lost the hard disk, I would've lost all my notes for medicine, all my music, but most importantly, all the pictures I had taken since I had gotten the laptop. Not to mention the portfolio I was attempting to build up.
So here's a million million thanks to my father, who basically retrieved most of the information from the hard disk and backed it up onto the desktop as well as an external hard disk... I tried to do it myself, but the way I did it was very inefficient and slow, and I got frustrated and angry most of the time, also because it was nearing exams, and I couldn't spend so much time trying a seemingly insurmountable task. Here's when my mom stepped in and calmed me down... and thanks so much to her as well... Because I would've basically broken down if my photos could not be retrieved. Without my dad and my mom, I won't be blogging this now.
Well, after a really long wait, I finally managed to get "Try!" by the John Mayer Trio. A trio of the most talented musicians you'll see in some time, John Mayer on lead guitar and vocals, Steven Jordan on the drums, and Pino Palladino on bass... The songs I've been putting up on my blog recently have all been from that album. Many people criticized John Mayer for "trying to imitate Jimi Hendrix" and so on and so forth, but with this turn in his career (I think we have to admit that songs like "Your Body Is A Wonderland" didn't really showcase his talent), he's really proven he's one of the best guitarists around today (yes, if you think guitar solos from Alter Bridge or Velvet Revolver are good, then you're seriously deprived. This guy can positively make his guitar SING...). John Mayer is creating a blues revival and giving all of us a chance to appreciate a genre of music that has long been lost to us... Many thanks to my younger sister for helping me buy the album! And to all those music stores (namely, Sembawang Music) that don't carry this album, you guys are sorely deprived as well.
I'd like to end off this post with a song that basically sums up whatever I wanna say, or whatever I feel inside... I seem to recall a post from a long time ago about me putting up songs that are irrelevant to what I felt inside... I lied then.
I got half a smile and zero shame
I got a reflection with a different name
Got a brand new blues that I can't explain
Who did you think I was?
Every mornin' when the day begins
I make up my mind then change it back again
I'm a shifter of the shape I'm in
Who did you think i was?
You got my number but I always knew the score
Who did you think I was?
Am I the one who plays the quiet songs?
Is he the one who turns the ladies on?
Will I keep shinin' 'til my light is gone?
Who did you think I was?
You got my number but I always knew the score
Who did you think I was?
Here is a line that you will not understand
I'm half of the boy but I'm twice the man
Carry the weight of the world in the palm of my hand
Who did you think I was?
Who did you think I was?
"You'll Never Walk Alone"... who did you think I was?
