Vantage Point

Decided to play soccer today after 3 days of non-stop horrendous mugging... I'm almost done with Biochem, but a huge obstacle needs to be tackled first, that is, Genetics. Both Prof Jeyaseelan's and Prof Denise Goh's lectures... What a great future lies ahead for me.

I learnt that when the weather is very unforgiving (which is to say, hot and humid), it's a very, VERY bad idea to wear the RI 2004 Sec 1 Orientation T-shirt. I think it's sort of a semi-polyester, semi-cotton shirt. Or maybe just polyester. Whatever it is, it's not jersey material, and it's not 100% cotton either. So not only did it not absorb the sweat I was producing, it managed to keep the heat IN the air between my body and the T-shirt material. Furthermore, it was black. The PERFECT colour when the sun is beating down on you.

As a result, I didn't feel like running at all. Like seriously... At all. Pretty bad for a player who uses speed as his number 1 weapon. Decided to play in defense after I didn't feel like running. Hahaha. I didn't score today... Came pretty close twice though. But "pretty close" doesn't count. Not just in this aspect of life...

Shuo Jie and I left early cos we were gonna catch a movie at 1910, but a pleasant surprise occurred when we looked at our phones and saw that Jon Teo called us several times each. He was allowed to book out for tonight! So we had a nice long dinner at Cafe Cartel at J8 while waiting for him... Then he came and all the magic tricks flowed... Hahaha. Shuo Jie and I were egging him on to go perform to this not-too-bad-looking girl sitting just opposite us, but he didn't have the guts :p (okay he's gonna whack me now), probably cos that girl was surrounded by a gang of many other girls O_O. He's fantastic, seriously. I don't think I'll be able to reach his level even if I try my very best.

We caught the movie "Vantage Point" at 2120... It's quite an interesting movie, with a very novel concept (at least to me). It shows an assassination + kidnapping attempt of the President of the United States in Spain through the eyes of the news team, the secret service agent who took a bullet for the President once before, a police man assigned to protect the mayor, an American civilian who was there on vacation and who videotaped the whole thing, a man who had had Special Forces training, blackmailed through his held-hostage brother to kidnap the President, the man who orchestrated it all, the President himself, and several others... If the movie were played front to back from the point of the shooting and bombing to the conclusion of the whole affair, it would have probably lasted around 15 minutes to half an hour. But because of the rewinding and showing of the many different viewpoints of the incident, it put pieces of the puzzle together, each time revealing something different and resolving it in another viewpoint of another person. It was pretty brilliant. Oh did I mention it has quite a sick car chase in it as well? My friends and I were all O_O at the agent's driving skills. I saw the trailer for this movie quite some time back, but I never found out the name for it. Kudos to Shuo Jie who recommended it.

The before-movie adverts played two trailers which kept me very interested. I hope I remember to catch "Superhero Movie" and "Street Kings"... "Superhero Movie" is a parody of Spider-man... It has all the classic parts of the Spider-man movies, plus other segments from Batman, Superman and so on... But the main parody is on Spider-man. Not surprisingly, the movie is by the makers of "Scary Movie" and so on... But the trailer was super funny, and the main actor is Drake Bell from the comedy on Nickelodeon, "Drake and Josh"! Haha... He's Dragonfly-man. Lolz.

The other movie, "Street Kings", stars Keanu Reeves as a dirty cop... I didn't really catch the main storyline for this, but one of the actors in it is HUGH LAURIE. Straightaway when I saw him, I was super interested. He's an exceptionally gifted actor and after watching House, I'd like to see him on the big screen as well. (Stuart Little 1 and 2 don't count, he had such a retarded role in them.) I'll see how the reviews put it when it comes out...

After the movie, I took the bus home... Didn't feel like sleeping on the bus 156 (which I normally do) so I just looked out the window... And thought about a lot of things.

Long, slow walks home are therapeutic. I don't understand why so many people are rushing to get their driving licences.

Sigh...
