Sunrise

Went to East Coast Park today as planned to take pics of sunrise with Jon Teo... There was a Liverpool match on last night from 0030 to 0230 and I had to leave the house a 0515 so I hardly slept at all! (Actually I wasn't supposed to sleep but I fell asleep anyway... For like 1 hour plus. Damn heng I woke up at 0500... Otherwise Jon Teo would have positively murdered me)

So I walked out to the bus stop outside Sunset Way, hoping to catch a bus to Clementi Mrt... Only to find out that the first bus was at like 0552... At that rate I would not have been able to catch the sunrise. So I panicked, and grabbed the first cab to Bedok Mrt Station... The freaking ride cost me $22.50! Zomg... But I managed to reach Bedok in 15 minutes... At 0545. The taxi driver was going at 130km/h all the way la! Damn exhilarating haha.

After Jon Teo reached Bedok Interchange we took a bus to the nearest bus stop to Bedok Jetty (which is not very near) and crossed the flyover and half-walked, half-jogged to the jetty... At that time it was 0655... Almost sunrise. We could already see the sky brightening. By the time we found a good spot on the jetty and set up our tripods and equipment, all ready to take the sunrise... The sun looked like it had already risen. We spent our first 10-15 minutes at the jetty taking cloud cover and swearing at our timing and our luck... It was like, Murphy's Law all over again.

Then, while I was taking pictures of the fishermen at the jetty, Jon Teo suddenly prodded me and yelled, "SUN!" Lolll... And true enough, the sun was shining brightly in the sky...

We took many many many many photos on this "Pathway To Heaven" as I call it... Experimenting with different exposures, this one is slightly underexposed, which gives the better contrast, which is how I like it. The more underexposed ones gave the "red sun" and later in the day when the sun got brighter we had better results...

I think on this one the contrast in the sea is more evident... You can really see the "pathway" of light.

This one is the "red sun" one... The pathway is... Redder. Lol.

Jon and I then started taking silhouette shots of each other... I like this one.

I like this pic... It's somehow.. Significant. Like how small we are compared to Nature's grandeur. Or a lonely walk by the side of the beach... Desolation, loneliness, solitude.

When the sun had fully risen we then took a long walk down east coast park, taking random photos along the way. This was taken at the lake where people practice wakeboarding...

That's Jon Teo with his tripod and camera lolll...

National Day is coming up! Happy birthday Singapore!!!

After the walk to Mac's I was so zonked out I had no more inspiration for phototaking... So we went to the bus stop to take our respective buses home... I met my BMT Sergeant Oong on the way lol he forgot my name and was like, "I know your face" Lol... Quite funny but it was good to see him again.

Yup I just wanna say a big thank-you to Jon Teo for actually agreeing to wake up so early in the morning and go all the way to east coast park just to take photos with me... Very sporting! And also a sorry to my OG people for not going out with you guys later I was really, REALLY zonked... Like K.O.ed. Hope you guys understand! :)
