I feel terrible. I think it's mainly a mixture of a very long-standing flu, eating too much and not exercising enough. Hahaha. I feel like I'm getting fatter, but actually I'm getting lighter. Maybe I'm losing muscle mass... Sigh.
This is one of my better shots of the fireworks... Most of the others had too much smoke and thus the effect was lost. This is one of the earlier ones so not too much smoke there. I used 5 second exposure for this. I would've have preferred a wide-angle shot of the fireworks above the river but I was scared that by the time I finished changing my lens the fireworks would've stopped (after all, it was only a rehearsal... shouldn't waste too many fireworks).
This was after the NDP rehearsal; I took Jon Teo to a building near Funan and although we couldn't gain access to the 6th level open storey, we did manage to snap some night shots from the 5th level carpark. This was taken using 30 second exposure, which gives the traffic lines below... I feel it's nicer than the 60 second exposure pics I took once again cos of the contrast...
This is a shot of the Fullerton using 5 second exposure... I was trying to capture the reflection in the river as well but I wasn't really successful with this shot. Jon Teo could do it with his cam but it was more difficult with mine and I think I got it but I dunno haha... Looks about the same :/ but the angle on this is nicer.
There're lots more where these pics came from :D Wahaha... I love night shots!
Jon and I are going to Botanic Gardens next week to spam macro-lens pics... :P Till then...

Well I'd rather start off slow
Because somewhere the one I wanna be with's with somebody else
Well I hear your favorite songs you sing along with everyday
This whole thing's like some sort of race
Instead of winning what I want
I'm sitting here in second place
Because somewhere the one I wanna be with's with somebody else
Well somewhere the one I wanna be with's with somebody else
And I'm pacing by the phone

Yowza just got back from a full day's outing lolz... I've been up and out since 0800 omg that's more than 12 hours man... Hardcore.
In the end we did a pretty all right job I guess (with all the slacking in between)... Ok i decided against posting our work so far here in case of some fanatics who want to spy on the rag or something. Haha. Well. There ARE these kind of pple.
Haha I saw Sidd outside med fac today! Lolz... While waiting for the BTC bus at the bus stop, a guy wearing a 9 Div Infantry shirt and track pants suddenly walked up and stood REALLY close to me while I was talking to my OG mates. I was thinking "Who the hell is this guy?" and when I eventually looked up I saw Sidd smiling at me lolll. What a coincidence. I suppose I'll see him again on Saturday during our weekly soccer :D
After rag we went to Bukit Timah Plaza to play pool :D they actually wanted to drag me all the way to Tampines can... -.-" I'll just die. On the way while waiting for the bus the gang wanted to pose with the Simpsons movie poster and this was the result lolz (sorry for my shaky hands)
Okays gonna go play the 360 soon... I should start mugging for my BTT already so MANY people have their licence liaoz... I feel so noob. Sigh. Oh well. There's no shame in sucking.

Wow I just got back from med.i.camp... Probably the most fun time I'll have in a camp this year... Cos the rest were all army camps. Lol.
I'm slowly getting into the idea that I'm not an NSman anymore... At least for the next 5-6 years or so. It's nice to be a civilian again.
And this!!! (that's Mok cam-whoring by the way... Hahaha :P)
See? I included BOTH TVMobile screens in this picture this time. Hahaha. It was so cool man, and Mok and I were the only people who seemed flabbergasted by that display. The others on the bus were totally unfazed! Haha... Talk about interior designing...
This is a bird's-eye-view of everyone lol...
And this is the grandest picture of them all!!! Hahaha... Taoni was the only one who didn't sleep a wink at all the previous night. Wahaha.
I must really say much thanks to Glorijoy and Jonk who made me realize that despite 4 years of photography in school, I've not progressed much in the art. Somehow I got lost along the way taking all those events and photographs, I lost the true art and skill of photography, and have forgotten what I learnt during the photography camps in RI... So I've decided to make full use of my camera and my skills from now on, starting tomorrow. Woohoo I'm going to take night shots with Jon Teo till like 12am haha. Hopefully I'll recreate my style of shooting and learn something new along the way.
Last thing I wanna say before I close this post, I wanna thank all the fabulous OGLs and OG mates for such a wonderful and enjoyable med.i.camp! Thanks to Yao Chen, Li Jia, John and John, (haha) E'Ching, En Qi, Michelle, Denise and Zhi Yong for being such sporting and brotherly/sisterly OGLs, and thanks to Zhun Rui, Jaryl, Taoni, MJ, Peter, Darren, Alvin, Yu Xuan, Celeste, Diana, Gilliane, Beatrice, Glorijoy, Yi En, Ling Xing (I think... sorry!) Yu Kit, and anyone else whom I so stupidly and forgetfully left out (don't worry I'll add it in once I remember :D). There's no shame in sucking!!!

It's a basic fact that backstage hands are unappreciated. People only want to see the star of the show, the highlight of the play, but not the dirty, gritty, unimportant backstage hands.
Without the backstage hands, the show cannot go on. Yet they are always taken for granted as most of the recognition and attention goes to the main attraction. So why do they still carry on when they know that their efforts are not appreciated? It's their definition of duty, an undying sense of responsibility, that they know they have a part to play and that they must play that part to the best of their ability; to fulfil their sense of honour and dignity, that they know that they had tried their best and done themselves proud, no matter who gets the credit. It allows them to look at themselves in the mirror and go, "I have not let myself down today".
But sometimes the backstage hand gets tired of getting no recognition. Sometimes he feels that he has been unjustifiably ignored. And sometimes, maybe he does not want to be a backstage hand anymore. Should he feel sorry for himself? Does he deserve to feel sorry for himself? After all, it was he who chose to lead this life of obscurity, to put himself in this predicament in the first place. Believe me, he has tried ways and means to shake off the tag of being the "man behind the scenes". But just as troglodytes are unable to emerge into the sunlight, the backstage hand is apprehensive of stepping into the spot light. Sometimes he feels jealous, perhaps even bitter at how the stars manage to handle it so well. But what makes him the most bitter is that the stars chuck him aside once they have gained their popularity, leaving them in the lurch and back to square one.
The backstage hand dreams of getting the recognition he deserves one day, that he can step up and be popular, and rise up to stardom. He thought that he could do that; start life anew, recreate himself in a fresh environment. But several ghosts of the past still come back to haunt him, forcing him to remain inconspicuous.
All the backstage hand wants is to feel appreciated, to feel wanted. Although he has tried to look for it himself, he does not want to be too daring and become a prima donna like his peers before him, for that would be betraying all that he stands for. Thus he is doomed to a life of being the invisible man, the utility man. For he is a mere backstage hand, and not the star of the show.

Wow I've been busy today. Just enrolled in Bukit Batok Driving Centre! Haha... But I have to take an evaluation first before I can take the BTT... How come other centres don't need lol. I'm gonna learn manual so can drive sports car in the future! Hahaha... Nah.
I watched Goal 2 by myself after that... Watching a movie by yourself is quite fun! Haha... But Goal 2 isn't really worth the ticket money... The story is most similar to Goal, and the games so unrealistic and once again... Santiago Munez never, NEVER tastes defeat. I mean, wtf?!?! The most unrealistic goals ever scored by anyone lol... And Beckham scores from EVERY free kick in the show... Haha... Arsenal and Real Madrid NEVER met in a Champions League Final... It was bad enough that they said that Newcastle United did a swap deal with Real Madrid, Munez for Owen, but for Madrid to come back from 2 goals down to win the Champions League Final 3-2 against Arsenal is pushing it a bit... It's like... Discrediting Liverpool's very own comeback win against AC Milan in 2005. Wtf wtf wtf... I'm severely disappointed, and I didn't even expect much from this movie.
Went swimming today with Peks! Quite fun cos after every 10 laps we would just stand at the side of the pool and catch up with one another... Almost like old times. I wasted $1 for the most stupid thing... The instruction on the entry fee screen said select type and number of tickets before paying, then I happily slotted in my $1 coin before selecting. Then Peks was like, "Errr I think you're supposed to choose first." OMG! So I payed double to enter the pool area. AHHHH
We went to eat Mac's at J8 after the swim... Before that I had not eaten since the night before haha... I was SUPER hungry throughout the swim. Now I'm exhausted... Haven't gone swimming for a long time already. But not bad la. I must keep up my exercise schedule!
My Xbox 360 caught the Red Ring Of Death!!! Now it looks like this:
I've read about this online and have been praying that my rotten Xbox 360 (which cheats at games, by the way :P) won't catch it... And in true Murphy's fashion, it caught it. I mean, I just turned it on and suddenly this scenario appears. Now I have to call Microsoft up and get it repaired... Hopefully replaced. Hahaha... At least it's now for free cos it's a manufacturer's problem. Sigh...
Okay I'm super tired... Gonna go sleep soon so I can wake up early to run tomorrow, then go to NUS to do a medical which I've already done at the Aeromedical Centre but which the results cannot be released cos it's "under the Air Force and is therefore confidential"... How retarded is that. Then have to pay for the medical some more... Sigh
The free tickets for the NUS medical freshmen for Harry Potter are subject to a lucky draw! AHHHH. Now people only have a 50% chance to get the tickets. I'm sure in true Murphy's fashion, I won't get a ticket tomorrow. Haha... Luckily I have a double-contingency plan. Thank you SAFRA!

Luis Garcia. Not a name that springs to mind when you consider Liverpool's greats... But there is something special about the player, that has captured the hearts of Liverpool fans around the world.
When Luis Garcia first moved to Anfield, people were skeptical about him. A virtually unheard-of Spanish player, brought from Barcelona's second-stringers, people were unsure of what Luis Garcia could bring to the club and if this signing would bring Liverpool in the right direction. Given the no. 10 jersey previously worn by Michael Owen and John Barnes before him, Luis Garcia had big boots to fill. But boy, did he fill them.
There are not many players in the world who can play left, right and central midfield, can double as a forward and even play 'in the hole' behind the strikers. There are even fewer players capable of striking a football so sweetly with both feet. Who can forget his premiership goal against Charlton, where he looked up, and curled a sweet right-footer past the keeper, who fully anticipated it but could not stop it. Or his magnificent dipping half-volley against Juventus and against one of the best keepers in the world, Gianluigi Buffon, in the Champions League quarter-finals of 2005?
His ball control is unquestionable. On the pitch, he always looks the most comfortable with the ball at his feet, trying outrageous tricks and pulling off the most wonderful turns and flicks. Many have been outwitted and outplayed by the Spaniard
Luis Garcia may be diminutive, but there is no questioning his heading ability. He proved that with a brilliant looping header in the champions league against Bordeaux from almost outside the box, and a wonderfully headed goal against Portsmouth in the Premiership.
Luis Garcia is a man for the big occasion, scoring all-important goals. Such as the goal against Chelsea (yes, it CROSSED the line you sore-loser Chelsea fans) to send Liverpool to the Champions League semi-final in 2005, and those vital goals against Bayer Leverkusen in the same year to give Liverpool the 6-2 aggregate win to send them into the quarter-finals.
Luis Garcia came from Barca and brought us joy. He taught us the magic of football, and brought us to heaven and back with his magical displays in the red shirt. We'll never forget his thumb-sucking celebration and never dispute the passion Luis has for football and for Liverpool.
Atletico have acquired themselves a real gem of a player.
Thanks for the memories Luis, and all the best in the Primera Liga. We'll miss you.

Well since disruption from the army last thursday I've had a lot of time to reflect and think about my short stint in the Singapore National Service...
It seems like I've spent many years in the army already, even though it's been a mere 6 months. National Service has changed me as a person, has put me through several trials and tribulations... Not only physically, but mentally and in terms of handling relationships with people as well.
BMT seems so far away now... Even though it was just in January this year. It was arguably the best portion of my 6 months in NS. Hawk COY was a great company, with good company-mates and commanders... I think we were all very tightly-knit and had a strong sense of pride in our company... This was displayed with great gusto during the games day for BMT. Sadly this attitude would not replicate for my next two postings, which is probably why I treasure the memories of Hawk COY the most. Onward all Hawk-ers!
SISPEC may have not been as bad as I made it out to be... But the disappointment of not getting into OCS, coupled with the disappointment of getting into the most 'xiong' company made all the trainees disillusioned I guess... Which was probably why I was unable to work with or motivate many of them. Of course that kind of attitude from the trainees was never going to sit well with the commanders... In my SISPEC platoon I think I was a prime candidate to crossover to OCS if not for my IPPT which only got a silver... But oh well. I don't think I'll be able to survive OCS anyway lol...
After getting the posting that said I was to go to Armour Training Institute, I had my fears and doubts about the vocation. Was it going to be tough? Are the people going to be the same as those in SISPEC? It seemed that way at first, but after a mere week or two, things started to pick up and I'm confident that the guys I left behind in the Specialist Training Wing of ATI will become as tight-knit as the guys from Hawk COY in BMT... ATI/STW is very systematic and organized in what they do and that's what appealed to me most.
There have been so many people who have made an impact on and influenced me throughout this short 6 months... I thank you all, it's certainly been a blessing to have met you guys.
From BMT: 2LT Wilson, thanks for being such a great PC and for playing DOTA with us!!! Haha. 3SG Thiru, hope you manage to achieve your dreams for your career in the future... 3SG Farhan, don't smoke so much! Haha... Our section had great fun with you as our section commander! 3SG Oong, the closest sergeant to the whole platoon... Don't so stress, be more fun-loving! 2SG Yee, who held us in awe with his discipline and military knowledge from the first day of BMT... SSG Faizul, for being such a funny and friendly sergeant major, you were like a godfather to all of us...
From SISPEC: 2SG Lian, yeah the best section commander from platoon 2! At least in my opinion... 1SG Ho, quite 'xiong' section commander but is always friendly and talking to us trainees... SSG Djohan and 3SG Jackjit, fellow Liverpool supporters! MSG Rajoo, who made us toilet cleaners scrub every single algae off the tiles... Haha... But a man to be respected, an inspirational figure. 3SG Ridzman, the SUPER nice sergeant whom I had the benefit of having as guard commander when I was doing guard duty...
From ATI: 2WO Muniandy, an ULTRA nice course warrant, almost like a friend to us... Too bad he nags a lot to the course haha... But to the three of us when we OOCed, he was the best. 2WO Koh, a fantastic PC, who boosts our morale all the time when we see him, always laughing and joking with us... You still haven't added me to friendster yet! Haha... SSG Patrick, my section commander, who is like a big brother to us in STW...
And how could I ever forget... My beloved parents, and family who have supported me through all the difficulties I'd faced this past 6 months... And my friends who've shared my pain and complaints about NS... Thank you all so much.
Thanks once again, and sorry to anyone whom I may have inadverdently missed out... It's been a hell of a ride.
See you all in 6 years!
