New Zealand

I'll be out of Singapore from today to the 3rd of June... Till then...

"Til Kingdom Come" by Coldplay

One, two
Steal my heart... and hold my tongue
I feel my time... my time has come
Let me in... unlock the door
I never felt this way before

And the wheels just keep on turning
The drummer begins to drum
I don't know which way I'm going
I don't know which way I've come

Hold my head... inside your hands
I need someone... who understands
I need someone... someone who hears
For you I've waited all these years

For you I'd wait... 'Til Kingdom Come
Until my day... my day is done
And say you'll come... and set me free
Just say you'll wait... you'll wait for me

In your tears... and in your blood
In your fire... and in your flood
I hear you laugh... I heard you sing
I wouldn't change a single thing

And the wheels just keep on turning
The drummers begin to drum
I don't know which way I'm going
I don't know what I've become

For you I'd wait... 'Til Kingdom Come
Until my days... my days are done
Say you'll come... and set me free
Just say you'll wait... you'll wait for me

Just say you'll wait... you'll wait for me
Just say you'll wait... you'll wait for me

Jesus Or A Gun

So many things to post... So little time. A song will suffice to mean what I want to say for now.

Apologies to Bryon and Sin Yong for taking so long to upload my photos. They're coming soon.

This song has a lot of meaning if you take the time to think about it.

"Jesus Or A Gun" by Fuel

Walk away, I walk the wire
And my fields are burning in the flames
Feel my way, blind in the mire
Struggling from your thoughts inside my head

But now everything's trying to drag me down
But I'll rip the sky from the ground
Tell me now, who's my saving one
Jesus or a gun

Stripped away my last desire
Nothing comes and nothing's sent away
Happiness, I couldn't hire
Struggling from your voice inside my head

But now everything's trying to drag me down
But I'll rip the sky from the ground
Tell me now, who's my saving one
Jesus or a gun

All that's safer falls from my favor
When it's over, who will cry for me?

It's safe to say, I don't desire
Everything you push inside my head
And I'll reject it until I'm dead

But everything's trying to drag me down
And I'll rip the sky from the ground
Tell me now, who's my saving one, oh yeah

But everything's trying to drag me down
But I'll rip the sky from the ground
Tell me now, who's my saving one
Jesus or a gun

Jesus or a gun
Jesus or a gun
Jesus or a gun, yeah

I've made some changes to my blog in anticipation of the upcoming UEFA Euro 2008! Made everything blue now to match the background of the new picture at the top... If I can find a better one I'll put it there :p

Disillusioned

Why does everyone who buys a DSLR think that that qualifies them to be a photographer already.

You know what owning a DSLR means? It just means you're a DSLR owner.

There are many things I concede that I'm not as good at as others, but don't you condescend on me and pretend that you know much more about photography than I do, writing off whatever I have to say about it. I have been doing this for 7 years and counting. What you've done is touch the tip of the iceberg.

I guess if you've got money to burn it's not any of my business.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all too happy for people who are interested in the hobby to take it up, but we all know the real reason why the above-mentioned kind of people take photography up anyway.

Please kindly don't pollute the profession.

Secret MUNUS Futsal Training Session

Went down to BBDC today to top up more money for my driving lessons... I now have 20 consecutive lessons in the month of June... Lol. I regret getting my PDL so early... Now I have to renew it for $25 extra. Will have to do that soon...

I overestimated the time that I would need to get to BBDC and back, so I decided to take a walk from Clementi MRT to NUS High where I could grab a 151 instead of just taking a bus to the bus stop. You know when you travel certain areas frequently, you tend not to realize that there's actually much more beyond the borders of whatever road you are taking... As if what you see on the left and right of the road is exactly what you'll see, and the end of what you'll see if you go in those directions? So to explore new areas for me it's like charting a new map in my mind... Or to put it in gaming terms, clearing the fog of war. It's a... Refreshing experience. Probably explains why I like navigation so much.

So I went back to NUS today to play soccer with the guys. We played 5-a-side cos Jipson pang-sehed us and Samuel was scared of the rain. But it was just nice, we had 5-a-side after the people from Architecture joined us. From medicine was: Me, Alex, Ian and Girider. Since it was so very nicely 5-a-side, we branded it the "Secret MUNUS Futsal Training Session". Lolll...

It's been a while since I really enjoyed myself during a soccer game. Usually I get pissed at people because they solo too much (on my team) or they think they're so damn good (on the opponent's team). But this was the first time in a long time where we played almost throughout with smiles on our faces. This is also a first time in a long time where I really felt that I PLAYED soccer. The past few times with the M1s, there were too many people on the court to play proper soccer and the past few times with the RIndians, the weather was so bad for soccer and we were too unfit lol.

I scored 3 goals in today's game (first time I've done that in NUS), and set up 1 or 2 I think... It was real fun. I didn't really tire at all throughout the match, though I scuffed my foot against the floor when taking a shot, injuring the big and second toes in the process... And this guy winded me when we challenged for the same ball. Lol. But that's what you get in soccer lah.

I think there're mutiple reasons why I didn't tire at all today, unlike previous times in RI.

1. The time of play was 5-7pm, unlike 1530 - 1830 for RI... So it wasn't sweltering and the sun was not so punishing.
2. I had a long walk from Clementi MRT to NUS High, it was quite a good warmup.
3. I topped up my fluids from 100plus before playing.

Well it could be all of these, or just one of this. But to play at a higher level, this would be a good start to follow.

I don't think I'll make the MUNUS M1 team anyway, there're already Kaartik, Jega, Samuel, Zheng Xian, Kevin Ho, Soon Hock playing... I don't think I'm needed (or good enough to make the first 5), so I guess I'll be taking photos. Hope I get a nice shirt though for being "on the team" for MUNUS. Hahaha...

Looking forward to squash tomorrow with the OG.

Hemorrhage (In My Hands)

"Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" by Fuel

Memories are just where you laid them
Drag the waters till the depths give up their dead
What did you expect to find?
Was it something you left behind?
Don't you remember anything I said, when I said:

Don't fall away
And leave me to myself
Don't fall away
And leave love bleeding in my hands
In my hands again
And leave love bleeding in my hands
In my hands
Love lies bleeding...

Oh hold me now I feel contagious
Am I only the only place that you've left to go?
She cries her life is like
Some movie black and white
Dead actors faking lines
Over and over and over again she cries:

Don't fall away
And leave me to myself
Don't fall away
And leave love bleeding in my hands
In my hands again
And leave love bleeding in my hands
In my hands
Love lies bleeding...

And I watched as, you turned away
You don't remember, but I do
YOU NEVER EVEN TRIED

Don't fall away
And leave me to myself
Don't fall away
And leave love bleeding in my hands
In my hands again
And leave love bleeding in my hands
In my hands again
And leave love bleeding in my hands
In my hands again

Falls On Me

"Falls On Me" by Fuel

I've seen you hanging round
This darkness where I'm bound
And this black hole I've dug for me
And silently within
With hands touching skin
The shock breaks my disease
And I can breathe

And all of your weight
All you dream
Falls on me it falls on me
And your beautiful sky
The light you bring
Falls on me it falls on me

Your faith like the pain
Draws me in again
She washes all my wounds for me
The darkness in my veins
I never could explain
And I wonder if you ever see
Will you still believe?

And all of your weight
All you dream
Falls on me it falls on me
And your beautiful sky
The light you bring
Falls on me it falls on me

Am I that strong
To carry on?
I might change your life
I might save my world
Could you save me?

And all of your weight
All you dream
Falls on me it falls on me
And your beautiful sky
The light you bring
Falls on me it falls on me

And all of your weight
All you dream
Falls on me it falls on me
And your beautiful sky
The light you bring
Falls on me it falls on me

Hols

I really need to get out of the house more often.

I thought that since now it's the hols I would be spending a lot of time out with my friends and my OG, but cos Shuo Jie is in army only the weekends are possible and Jon Teo is in Taiwan so no photography expeditions or shopping is possible, and cos of other circumstances I've chosen not to join my OG on many occasions.

I'm bored out of my skull. And I've only myself to blame.

Thank goodness I've been to the library on Sunday to borrow books. Finally managed to read about the Infinite Crises in the DC Comics universe, the groundbreaking event of the DC universe in 2005. But now that I'm really interested to find out more, but the Comicsmart at Orchard Cineleisure (which I used to patronize rather faithfully) closed down! Means the only one left is the one at Serene Centre, and I'm not even sure if it's still there. Damn. Oh well. The best things in life don't usually happen to me so. Now I'm reading "The Bourne Identity" after watching the trilogy, which Jaryl so kindly lent me to watch :)

I just found out yesterday that my favourite author had passed away in 2006. I only knew after going to the bookstore in Holland Village where you can either buy or rent books. I was hoping that by chance the last book of the Troy trilogy by David Gemmell would be there. It was, "Fall Of Kings", but it wasn't by David Gemmell. It was by David AND Stella Gemmell. At the back of the book was also a tribute to possibly one of the greatest fantasy authors of our time. I confirmed it when I got home and wiki-ed "David Gemmell". Damn. He was a great author, there was really no other who could weave such stories as he could.

When I was in the bookstore I also chanced upon this book called "God: A Biography". Being one who takes fascination in religion and religious people (though I don't have a religion myself), I was rather interested in it. It's a winner of the Pulitzer prize as well. Here's what it says at the back of the book:

"What sort of a 'person' is God? What is his 'life story'? Is it possible to approach him not as an object of religious reverence, but as the protagonist of the world's greatest book - as a character who possesses all the depths, contradictions, and ambiguities of a Hamlet? This is the task that Jack Miles - a former Jesuit trained in religious studies and Near Eastern languages - accomplished with such brilliance and originality in God: A Biography.

Using the Hebrew Bible as his text, Miles shows us a God who evolves through his relationship with man, the image who in time becomes his rival. Here is the Creator who nearly destroys his chief creation; the bloodthirsty warrior and the protector of the downtrodden; the lawless law-giver; the scourge and the penitent. Profoundly leanred, stylishly written, the resulting work illuminates God and man alike and returns us to the Bible with a sense of discovery and wonder."

Sounds interesting doesn't it... I'm looking forward to reading this on my New Zealand trip.

I just bought matchbox twenty's "Exile On Mainstream", the greatest hits album by them. It's been out for quite some time already, but I didn't get around to purchasing it. It's really good! Many songs in there which I've heard before and thought they were good, but didn't know they were by matchbox twenty. Good stuff. I also got Fuel's discography, and they're simply fantastic. I like almost every song on all their albums. The best thing is they don't sound similar, which so many bands' songs tend to be in the same album.

I was going to get 30 Seconds To Mars' two albums, but I'm not really sure if they're any good. iTunes gives it quite good reviews, but I'm not sure =\ anyone has any suggestions or comments on their songs or albums?

Gonna go get GTA IV (and possibly Assassin's Creed) at Funan tomorrow (if I can wake up) before going to play soccer in RI. Finally getting out of the house.

My father got the Starhub Digital Cable TV set box today! It's quite cool, now we can view the TV Guide on the TV itself when scrolling through the channels. But apart from that, I've yet to fully explore the functions. My father is taking full advantage to the "all-channel" preview and he's watching movies like nobody's business now on HBO. Lolz.

I think for me, there's no such thing as a good dream. Good dreams are just really, really cruel. They just give me what I can only dream of, what I will never have. God, she's so beautiful and so wonderful. Being halfway across the Earth only increases the sense of futility. I don't know.

I woke up this morning wishing that I could've stayed in that dream forever.
